On behalf of everyone at Hang Seng, I would like to express how
excited we are for the bank to serve as title sponsor of the Hong Kong
Open. This is the first time a prestigious tour like the Seamaster 2018
ITTF World Tour has come to our shores, and it demonstrates just
how much the sport has grown and prospered in Hong Kong.
Hang Seng’s support of the Hong Kong Open reinforces the Bank’s
deep commitment to the development of table tennis. Since 1991 we
have worked in close partnership with the Hong Kong Table Tennis
Association to promote the sport across the city, to people of all ages
and backgrounds, with a shared mission of increasing participation
and developing elite talent. During this time, Hang Seng has
contributed nearly HK$60 million to growing the game in Hong Kong.
Our proudest achievement is the establishment of the Hang Seng
Table Tennis Academy. Hong Kong’s first comprehensive programme
for a single sport, the Academy has helped prepare some of the city’s
finest athletes both for the arena and life. World-class players Wong
Chun-ting, Doo Hoi-kem and Lee Ho-ching are just a few of the many
homegrown stars who have received training under the Academy.

Hang Seng strongly believes that passion drives perseverance.
The passion of the 190 world-class players competing in the Hong
Kong Open will be on full display over these six days, as will their
immense talent and indomitable drive to succeed. We hope that their
performance can inspire something similar in all of us – in particular,
our homegrown talent.
