6/17/2009 China Junior Open
The top two seeds in the Junior Girls' Team event at the China Junior Open in Chengdu both emerged successful on the opening day of play, Wednesday 17th June 2009.
It was first place in the group for the Hong Kong trio of Ng Wing Nam, Lee Ho Ching and Guan Meng Yuan as it was for the Korean outfit of Jung Hai Dan, Park Hyo Won and Jeong Da Eun.
Seeded no.1; the Hong Team was in impressive form; they had a clear goal and that goal was achieved.
Impressive
They recorded a three matches to nil victory over the Chinese B' team of Zhang Yangyingzi, Zhao Jing and Zeng Xuemei and performed likewise against the Korean B' team trio of Park Joo Hyun, Kim Ga Young and Jee Da Young.
Top place in the group for Hong Kong with Korea second; the Koreans beat China three-one.
More Difficult
A comfortable passage for the no.1 seeds but life for Korea A' seeded no.2, was much more difficult.
The contest between Korea A' and China A' was a nail-biting affair; with the Koreans recording a three-two victory.
Shi Jiantong
Shi Jiantong remained unbeaten for China but reverses for Liang Lu and Li Menglin doomed the hosts to defeat. Jung Hai Dan and Park Hyo Won both beat Liang Lu whilst Jeong Da Eun overcame Li Menglin.
Both teams progressed to the main draw; both overcame the Congo Democratic team of Cyntia Nzangani-Kindani, Amma Litobka and Mbuta Lombo Muana.
First Place for China
Defeats for China in the Junior Girls' Team competition but there was success in the Cadet Girls' Team event.
The three Chinese teams on duty all finished in first place in their respective groups.
It was a fruitful day for Ru Yao, Lin Hong and Lu Lan of China A' as it was for Wei Dan, Chen Libing, Tao Ye and Zhang Jiamin of China B' Similarly Yang Jingxu, Liu Tianlu and Pan Yingying of China C' enjoyed a most successful day; likewise top place was their lot.
Second Places
Second place in Group A' went to the joint Egypt/USA team of Dina Meshref, Lily Zhang, Reem Morad and Aymour Morad.
They finished behind China A' whilst in Group B' the runners up to China B' were Korea A' represented by Kang Haneul, Lee Seul and Jung You Mi.
In Group C' second place went to Hong Kong in the guise of Ng Ka Yee, Li Ching Wan and Doo Hoi Kem.
