2015 Hungarian Open - Ho Kwan Kit Wins Hungarian Under 21 Men’s SinglesTitle

Top seed, Ho Kwan Kit justified his exalted position in the draw to win the Under 21 Men’s Singles title at the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Hungarian Open in Budapest on Saturday 31st January.

At the final hurdle he accounted for Croatia’s Filip Zeljko (11-8, 11-6, 9-11,11-2), having at the semi-final stage earlier in the day ended the hopes of Chinese Taipei’s Liao Cheng-Ting (11-5, 15-12, 11-7).

It is the second ITTF World Tour title for the Hong Kong player; last year he won the Men’s Singles title at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour Philippines Open in Subic Bay.

Success for Ho Kwan Kit and there was more success on the penultimate day of play in the Hungarian capital city.

Lee Ho Ching beat Singapore’s Lin Ye (11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 12-10, 11-5) and Portugal’s Yu Fu (9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-7, 5-11, 12-10) to reach the semi-final stage of the Women’s Singles event.

Similar to Ho Kwan Kit the success was anticipated; Lee Ho Ching is the third seed. Japan’s Sayaka Hirano awaits in the final.

However, the progress of Jiang Huajun and Li Ching Wan was not to be expected.

Not seeded, they beat Poland’s Katarzyna Grzybowska and Natalia Partyka, the top seeds and runners up last December at the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals (11-6,11-3, 11-7), before booking their place in the final courtesy of success against the host nation’s Szandra Pergel and Georgina Pota (10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 13-11).

In the final they meet Austria’s Sofia Polcanova and Amelie Solja.
