Jun Mizutani from Japan and Ri Chol Guk from North Korea book tickets to Beijing

Jun Mizutani, the young star from Japan has defeated the more experience Chiang Peng Lung from Chinese Taipei in another marathon qualification match that went all the way to death, with Mizutani only coming out on top in the final two points. In a typical up and down Jun Mizutani match with moments of pure brilliance and at times when he seemed to lose concentration it was never sure if he would get on top only in the last few moments.

Mario Amizic, Men’s coach for the Japanese players said that “he could have won more easily but a lack of concentration let the Chiang in the match”. Regardless the win now see’s him qualify and can they can start to focus for the Olympic Games.

In the second qualification match for the afternoon it was two players from North Korea who fought out for the other Olympic qualification place on offer. In the end Ri Chol Guk overcome the defensive style of Jang Song Man to qualify.
