First Day proceedings go as planned for China, DPRK players impress

Wang Liqin and Wang Nan made no errors in their quest for a spot at the Olympic Games at the Shep Kip Mei Sports park in the Opening round of the Asia Olympic Qualification Tournament. Wang Nan dropped no games in her matches while WANG Liqing dropped two games in total. Neither never looked in any serious danger of dropping their matches.

The Democratic republic of Korea, bringing their top players to try and qualify for the Olympic Games where the best performed on day 1 and would be expecting to qualify some players based on day 1. 4 out of the 6 players finished higher in their group than their perspective seeding. Of note was Jang Soon Man who defeated both Hong Kongs Chueng Yuk and Japan’s Seiya Kishikawa to finish on top of his group.
